The Vivabox story goes back to Belgium in 2003 when a few entrepreneurs hit upon a great idea. Their aim was simple: How do we create a product
that has the tangibility and immediate pleasure of a traditional gift, while retaining the flexibility of a voucher. The result was a brand new,
innovative product concept called a Vivabox.
After getting the backing of Fortis Private Equity, Indufin and some other angel investors, we had to prove that the concept would work. Ici
Paris XL, the biggest fragrance retailer in Belgium, loved the idea and became our first retail partner. The major fragrance houses were also
intrigued with our concept and agreed to participate. Our first production run was for 10,000 boxes.
The story since then has been an enormous success. Three years after our initial order for 10,000 boxes, Vivaboxes will sell over half a million
Gift Boxes. From our one fragrance product, we now have over 50 different Vivaboxes, including Champagne, Whisky, Wine, Port, Trappist Beer,
Film/TV DVDs, Music CDs, Games and other experiences like sports tickets, museum visits and golf green fees. And from a single country,
Vivaboxes are now sold in Belgium, the UK, the US, France, Switzerland and Holland.
Wherever we have taken it, the product concept has proven itself to be a real success. And we have only just begun.
